Course Requirements
Course Content
No specific guidance or restrictions on course content are provided by the Board.  The course must "contribute to the advancement, extension or enhancement of the professional skills and/or scientific knowledge of the licensee in practice of professional engineering" and "foster the enhancement of general or specialized practice and values of professional engineering, related sciences and engineering ethics".

Accepted activities include (a) completing college or university courses, (b) completing courses awarding CEU credits, (c) attending seminars and workshops or successfully completion of online courses, (d) authoring, teaching, or presenting courses,  (e) publishing papers, articles, or books, (f) receiving a U.S. patent, or (g) active participation on a committee or holding office in a professional or technical society.
Course Approval
The Board does not pre-approve specific courses.  Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements.
Sponsor Approval
The Board does not pre-approve course sponsors.
Online Courses
Online courses are accepted.

For Professional Engineers, there is no limit on the number of PDH credits that can be earned through online continuing education.

For Structural Engineers, no more than 10 hours of the 30 hours required may be earned through online continuing education.

PDH Credit Requirement
30 PDH biennially
Renewal Dates
November 30 odd years for Professional Engineers

November 30 even years for Structural Engineers
PDH Carryover
Hours cannot be carried forward into the next renewal period.
Record Keeping
The responsibility of maintaining records to be used to support credits claimed is the sole responsibility of the licensee.

The records must be maintained for a period of six years.
Exemptions
Exemption from the PDH requirements include licensees during the first renewal period only.  A waiver may be requested for extreme hardship such as full-time military service incapacitating illness, or other extenuating circumstance.  A request for waiver shall be submitted in writing prior to the renewal date.
