Course Requirements
Course Content
At least 20 PDH must be in technical areas that directly safeguard the public's health, safety and welfare.  A maximum of 10 PDH may be in professional management subjects, such as total quality process or ethics or administration-oriented computer classes.

Accepted activities include (a) completing college courses, (b) completing courses awarding CEU credits, (c) attending seminars, classes, or technical presentations, (d) teaching courses, seminars, or technical presentations, (e) publishing papers, articles, or books, (f) receiving a U.S. patent, or (g) active participation in professional or technical societies.  See board website for more specific information.
Course Approval
The Board does not pre-approve specific courses.  Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements.
Sponsor Approval
The Board does not pre-approve course sponsors but may choose to pre-approve providers in the future.
Online Courses
Online courses are accepted.

There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online continuing education.

PDH Credit Requirement
30 PDH biennially
Renewal Dates
December 31 depending on initial year of licensure
PDH Carryover
A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
Record Keeping
The responsibility of maintaining records to be used to support credits claimed is the sole responsibility of the licensee.

The records must be maintained for a period of four years.
Exemptions
Exemption from the PDH requirements include active military duty, retired status, disability, illness, or other extenuating circumstance.  A professional engineer exempt from registration by N.D.C.C. §43-19.1-29 but voluntarily registered are exempt from continuing education requirements.  Please refer to the state board's website for specific requirements and time periods allowed.
