Course Requirements
Course Content
The course must have a "clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee's field of practice".

Accepted activities include (a) completing college or university courses, (b) completing courses awarding CEU credits, (c) attending seminars and workshops or successfully completion of online courses, (d) authoring, teaching, or presenting courses,  (e) publishing papers, articles, or books, (f) receiving a U.S. patent, (g) active participation in professional and technical societies, or (h) documented self-study (3 self-study hours = 1 PDH with maximum 3 PDH units per renewal period).  See Board website for more information.
Course Approval
The Board does not pre-approve specific courses.  Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements.
Sponsor Approval
The Board does not pre-approve course sponsors.
Online Courses
Online courses are accepted.

There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through online continuing education.

PDH Credit Requirement
30 PDH biennially
Renewal Dates
The last day of the month based on date of initial licensure.
PDH Carryover
A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period.
Record Keeping
The responsibility of maintaining records to be used to support credits claimed is the responsibility of the registrant.

The records must be maintained for a period of five (5) years.
Exemptions
Exemption from the PDH requirements include new registrant by way of examination or comity, active military duty, called to emergency service by state or federal emergency disaster declaration, or disability, illness or other extenuation circumstance. Exemption also applies to registrant 70 years of age on the renewal date. Please refer to the state board's website for specific requirements and time periods allowed.
